Sawasdee-Krup

Picture this. It's 10.30pm the night before you fly out. You are finishing packing your suitcase, look at your passport and realise that it expires in January 2008. For some reason I had a feeling that at least 6 months was needed on your passport. You could say I began to almost ruin my shorts. After being on the phone to the Embassy of Thailand, and listening to the £1.50 per minute marathon message on the governments passport machine, the only option that I had was to go to London in the morning that we were due to fly out and arrange for a passport to be made. I had a 10.15am appointment and it was guaranteed to be ready in 4 hours. We still had to get from Victoria to Heathrow Terminal 3 and our flight was at 4.00pm. I was somewhat nervous, but thanks to getting the passport within about 2 hours, we got to Heathrow at 1.00pm and made the flight! Anyway....the holiday.....
Absolutely AWESOME!!! Ariving at our Hotel in Bangkok was such a relief and sitting in the taxi pulling up to the hotel was a very strange experience. Never being anywhere in Asia before, although hearing other stories and knowing bits and pieces, I had no real expectations. It was kind of like we were dropped into a TV show. For some reason I didn't expect so many Thai people, and thought that there would be more tourists. Walking past all the market stalls by the side of the road, the heat, the people it was all brilliant. Everyone was so friendly, something that takes a bit of getting used to being in England!
After 3 nights in Bangkok, we headed south to Koh Chang for 8 nights. As soon as we got to this place, I couldn't stop grinning. We got there at about 4.00pm and after getting to our room we hit the pool bar for Happy Hour, layed on a sun bed and watched the sun go down. This place was heaven.
We spent 8 awesome nights at this place and every morning we woke up and drew back the curtains we saw this view...

I think another AWESOME is needed here! After a lot of chilling, eating, drinking, massaging, elephant trekking, snorkelling and canoeing we begrudgingly had to say good-bye to Koh Chang. It wasn't all doom and gloom tho. We had another 3 nights left in Bangkok, and decided that this time we would make the most of our time and tried to do as much as possible.

We spent a day checking out a bit of culture by doing a river boat crusise and stopping off along the way looking at the Grand Palace and Wat Pho. Then had a meal at the 61st Floor Vertigo Grill Bar in the lovely Banyan Tree Hotel. Spent the next day in the MBK centre and spending the last Bahts we had remaining as we knew we were going to the Acquarium in the Siam Paragon Centre.

It was sad to say good-bye to Thailand but am definate that it is a place to return to in the future.

Kop Koon Krup.
